Why reverse appliqué?

I started creating original textile art using hand embroidery. By the beginning of 2013, I knew I needed a faster method of creating textiles. Anyone who is interested in selling art professionally needs to be efficient and in this case hand embroidery was taking too long for a reasonable price. I took a Carole Redlich class in January 2013. The focus was digital prints and reverse appliqué. Both have ongoing appeal for me.

The piece in this post is called “Divisions”, the reverse appliqué is finished but it still needs to be prepared for hanging. Reverse appliqué uses layers of fabric, this piece has four.

These are the fabrics I chose for this piece. Tonally I didn’t need both the black, and the dark blue roses.

Price $400 contact Anita Morris to buy.
