The question of the meaning of life, the universe and everything

I don’t claim to know the meaning of life. Physicists, mystics, philosophers, and satirists have all have had attempted to define the question and the answer for several thousand years. It is however the theme of this art piece “42”.

The black writing left to right is quotes about how to live your life mixed in with some general observations. I’m still not sure what made me add “Time flies like an arrow, fruit flies like a banana”. On the other hand “A straight line may be the shortest distance between two points, but it is by no means the most interesting.” – the 3rd Doctor, could describe most of my life. Or as mum used to complain when I was a child “Why must you always do things the hard way?”

The red writing in the opposite direction is the first four verses of the nonsense poem Jabberwocky by Lewis Carroll. This is to juxtapose with the quotes and to suggest the existentialist view that life is meaningless.Which one is right? Make up your own mind,
